Cofferdams are designed for the closure or sealing of holes or channels in pressure balanced. The main feature of these gates is split into different sections of the board or shutter or in the form of lifting the stopper.
When the closing takes place on three sides (side and sill) is unique board. When the closure is on four sides (side sill and lintel) is unique board.
It consists of still frames embedded in concrete and board or boards that make plug and slide guided on these frames. For large pressures is designed to slip tread. The filling is made by rubber seals placed on the board.
The elevation of the board may be a manually using a hanger or automatically by a beam trap, also called fisher beam (for large panels and heavy).
When the board is divided into several sections, the different sections fit together with each other and rest on rubber seals to close between them.
In some cases it is necessary to mount a by-pass for easy operation.
